Throwback Thursday: Railroad Bill

Last Updated 12/16/2021

Happy #throwbackthursday Atmore! A historical marker is now posted for Railroad Bill, Atmore's own outlaw. He was on the run and was all over the newspapers from Mobile to Brewton to across South Alabama.

The Pine Belt News reported in 1896, "Men and bloodhounds chase Railroad Bill." After the long search, a telegram was sent from the Atmore Station Agent to the searching parties that Railroad Bill had been shot in Atmore.

Go visit downtown Atmore and see the infamous Atmore Station near where Railroad Bill was taken down. #discoverlocal #discoveratmore #themoreweknow
